A side site

I am thinking of starting up a side site, not directly focused on what I do for a living but an outlet so to speak on things that I like and do not like work related wise (kind of like my own philosophy). Is it better to have my own blog like wordpress or would a CMS be better? I keep tossing between the two...

I personally advocate Wordpress because of its functionality and flexibility to customize it to your preferences.

It's a lot more user friendly, especially for those who have little knowledge with programming and codes.

Wordpress really is a decent CMS all by itself. You can customize it so much with various addons and plugins that it can do almost anything you want. And it's so easy to learn compared to some of the tech-intensive larger CMS solutions.
